Description
“Coccinelles” means “ladybug”, an insect widely perceived as a symbol of healthy plants, just as Domaine des Coccinelles is a traditional wine from a vineyard that strictly follows the precepts of “l’agriculture biologique” (organic farming). Managed by the fourth generation of a family dedicated to earth-friendly practices, Domaine des Coccinelles uses the most progressive methods in their farming. Of the 98 acres of vines, 25 acres are always in rotation for soil replenishment, which lasts seven years. During this time, the land is planted to other crops, such as grain and corn. The rocky clay and limestone soil is tilled 10 times during the growing season to aerate it, allowing rain to penetrate, because the vineyard is not irrigated. The vines are never treated; instead the drying mistral (persistent winds blowing through the Rhone Valley) inhibits any rotting of the grapes.
