In the local Mapuche language, Calcu means "magician," like the bull on the label and the talented young artist who painted it. Calcu is an exuberant Chilean wine with unrestrained possibilities that seeks to capture the expression of the diversity of Colchagua Valley´s terroir. We offer wines that express the characteristics of the terroir with our different varieties.

And indeed, winemakers Alejandro Jofre and Ricardo Rivadeniera have created a magical “Super Chilean” blend from the distinctive flavors of Chile’s Colchagua Valley. Born in Chile, Ricardo worked in oenological duties at Charles Krug Winery in Napa Valley, Chateau Branaire-Ducru and then worked for three years as the head of the development department of Chile's biggest supplier for the Wine Industry.

Juan Alejandro has served as winemaker at Viñedos Calcu since 2005, where he has played an important role in the development of our wines. Juan has worked at several prestigious wineries throughout the world, including Villa Maria Estate in Marlborough, New Zealand, Torrecorcos Wines in Duero, Spain and Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates in California, USA.
